Cataloguing, Metadata and Taxonomy Design
We love to catalogue and we love to help others to solve their cataloguing and metadata problems. From policy to implementation and using technology from spreadsheets to Library Management Syetems (LMS) and website Content Management Systems (CMS), we are open for advice and practical delivery.
Recently we have completed consultancy work for clients including law firms, heritage organisations and private individuals. This has ranged across writing policy and training documents, updating in-house classification schemes and establishing processes. We’ve also catalogued several people’s libraries and set up systems for those who want to inventory their books and papers themselves.
The Cataloguing Office Hour
Although most of our metadata and consultancy work is quoted for and carried out on a project basis, we also offer an office hour for a growing number of clients who need ad hoc advice. Many of them are solo librarians who group their quotidian “cataloguing problems” together in batches and book an hour in which to talk them over and listen to suggested solutions.
