My Dad always said one of the best things about middle age is being able to pick up music from your youth cheaply. And, you know, he was right! £5 for this 3 disc @officialthebangles Gold in @sainsburys Crystal Palace at the weekend. No doubt I have all the albums on vinyl in the attic somewhere, because this was very much my soundtrack to homework at high school. In common with a lot of people, a big part of my #writingsoundtrack this week was Ennio Morricone’s work. He’ll be much missed, but his movie soundtracks will remain with us always. And if my writing about the catalogue and how I think we’ve focused too much on its potential rather than its purpose recently is a little Wild West, then so much the better.
